Volumetric Weight Calculator
Estimate the dimensional and chargeable weight an express courier may use to price your shipment.
Enter one packed carton's dimensions
Use the final external measurements after the parcel has been packed.
Estimate only. Carriers can use different divisors, rounding rules and measured dimensions. Your ArrowPath quote will confirm the chargeable weight used.
Request a shipping quoteWhy dimensions can cost more than kilograms
Aircraft and delivery vehicles have limited space. A large, light parcel can occupy more capacity than a smaller, heavier parcel, so express carriers compare its actual weight with its volumetric weight.
The formula
Length × width × height in centimetres ÷ divisor
For example, a 60 × 40 × 30 cm carton using a 5,000 divisor has a volumetric weight of 14.4 kg. If its actual weight is 10 kg, the estimated chargeable weight is 14.4 kg.
Multiple cartons
Calculate each different carton size separately, multiply by the number of identical cartons, and provide all results with the quote request. The final carrier calculation may round each piece according to its rules.
Reduce avoidable volume
Ask your supplier whether the external carton can be reduced without compromising protection. Even a small reduction on every side can lower the total volumetric weight.
